Pizza Roma on Bardstown Road in Louisville

Pizza Roma has been open for about a month, and I went with my two sons. They feel it's a middle of the road pizza, and the best part of the meal was the Dirty Bread (a grab bag pizza on french bread). "All the toppings fall of when you pick a slice up," said Eli.

"It's Okay, it tastes really good, but the bond between the dough and the things on top aren't very strong," said Chris.

When asked is they had $20 to buy a pizza, would you go there, both kids said no.

La Rosita Mexican Grill: Mexican in New Albany

$20 worth of food on a Monday night after the YMCA. La Rosita is the best tacos in the area, far better than Taco Tico. In fact, I would say that if Taco Tico is even acceptable to you, you aren't in the league for La Rosita. The salsas are really good, and are the reason for the chips. The guacamole tasted like it was freshly made, even at the end of the day.

The Perfect Macchiatos of Louisville

Hi I'm Paul, and I'm a coffee snob. I'm not real proud of it, and I try to hide it, but now I'm blogging about it. There is not many drinks that scream snob more than the macchiato. Those stuck in the Starbuck's world of coffee don't even know what a real macchiato is because Starbuck's has rebranded it to be a fluffy drink full of carmel. That broke my heart, BTW.

I went to eight Louisville coffee shops, and ordered a macchiato with a little extra foam, and here's what I got.

Day's Coffee  /  By far the best macchiato in class. They know how to do it right. They keep their cups warmed and their shots are pulled with attention and care. The cup is the right size, and it made we tingle inside when I saw it.

Quill's  /  A good and solid choice. This macchiato was delicious. I love the environment, and the meeting room upstairs.

Heine  /  This macchiato was served in a paper cup, and my though is 'what's the point.' They are so busy, that paper is standard, and this shop is a local Starbuck's replacement. Don't get me wrong, it's wonderful to have such a strong Louisville presence, but steer clear if you want a macchiato.

Java Brewing  /  They only had single shoot demi cups, so they served my double macchiato in two separate cups. This had class all it's own; I got to have my cake and eat it, too; at least for one cup.

Sunergos  /  Their coffee drinks are really good, and this macchiato was no different. It's not a stand out, but is a solid choice.

Blue Mountain  /  'Now, what's a macchiato?' That was the response, and I hate that, because the salad I had with it was one of the best I had in Louisville. It would be super to have a place I could get some of the best food in Louisville, and espresso based drinks. The macchiato was bitter, and the foam was sad looking.

Perkfection  /  Who can beat Twister in the morning with a macchiato? This Indiana shop is amazingly good, and offers a great lunch. One of my best memories of this shop is when it has a picture of a rooster up behind the counter.

Sanoma  /  No demi cups for their macchiatos, and that's sad, but this shop has meeting space and has the "Starbuck's" look with clean and new storefront build. The staff is very friendly, and the Gelato is great.

Starbuck's  /  WTF? A macchiato with carmel? I asked about it, and the part line is that a macchiato has carmel in it, and a 'espresso' macchiato is what I wanted. Since it was Thanksgiving Eve, and I wanted a little sugar drink, I ordered a Starbuck's Macchiato.

Communal Pizza at BoomBozz

The kids got a $15 gift card for Tony BoomBozz Pizza, and tonight was the night. We had been there before to have a Brooklyn Slice, and they like it better than their 'normal' pizza.

Pictured here is the Potato Nachos, a Portobello Pizza and a Cheese Pizza. There bar is something to see, an ice bar. It's a 'runner' of ice, so your drinks can stay ice cold (see the second picture).
